Have you made ice cream? & stainless steel pots for thermowell

Hello,
I see in the Idle Hour cookbook that you can make ice cream in the thermowell (with the gas turned off, of course, he he)

Has anyone done this? It mentions a pot with an insert. Does anyone have such a pot, and if so, what does it look like.

I wanted to mention, for those of us who are leary about aluminum pots (no, I don't mean to start anything, please, by bringing this up - please let me have my personal phobia), please check out this link

These pots have clamp down lids, are not expensive, and here are the sizes of them

475 ml is 4.68" diameter & 3.22" high
775 ml is 5.64" diameter & 3.62" high
1100 ml is 6.23" diameter & 3.91" high
1600 ml is 7.24" diameter & 4.17" high.

If I measured correctly, they should all fit in the thermowell.

Pro-Aluminum users - you would be proud of me. I took a deep breath, and in spite of my fear of aluminum, I used two of the triple pots for veggies, and fed my family, and decided those pots are just too cool to not use.

The Idle Hour Cookbook available from Sam or Todd includes diagrams of the inserts on page 60 of the edition printed in 1957. You likely can find a picture using the forum search function and looking for postings on thermowell pots or thermowell pot insert.
